Call for SASSA in the Classroom Volunteers!

Originally published April 17, 2019

Want to save the world? Well, maybe not the world, but a fictional community hit by a natural disaster? We are looking for volunteers to assist with SASSA in the Classroom’s Natural Disaster module.

College volunteers partner with students in this interactive game that requires teamwork, strategy, and problem solving. Each team is made up of citizens, rescue workers, and politicians. You must work together and race against the clock to save as many citizens as possible. The type of disaster—variable. Available resources—unknown. Quality of infrastructure—uncertain. Is luck on your side? If not, you must work even harder to save your community. Whoever saves the most citizens and uses their resources wisely wins.

On the first day, the game is played. On the second, the winner is revealed and the outcomes of the other communities discussed.

We are looking for volunteers for the following days:

Tuesday, April 30th
Wednesday, May 1st
Thursday, May 2nd

If you are interested, please fill out our Volunteer Interest Form. We look forward to hearing from you!
