PREP Success Story: Michael Murphey

SASSA in the Classroom volunteer and PREP participant, Michael Murphy, will be spending his summer working as a science communication intern with Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho. Michael was drawn to the position because he loves being outside and doing hands-on science, both of which involve the public in learning and new research.

“I’m interested in geoscience education, specifically how we can communicate with students about the importance of natural resources… I applied to this science communication position because it offered the opportunity to do research as well as bring that research back to the general public and connect them with what is going on in the park.”

“My experience with SASSA definitely helped me out as the position is focused on working with people to help them connect with and see the value in natural places and scientific research.”
